Semprius Completes Installation of High Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) Research Development & Demonstration System at Tucson Electric Power
Innovative Microcell-based System Promises Major Advances in Solar Power Performance, Reliability at Lower Cost
Tucson, Arizona, December 8, 2010 - Semprius, Inc., a developer of High
Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) panels, announced today the installation of the industry's first microcell-based High Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) system. Deployed at Tucson Electric Power (TEP) in August, 2010, the system combines Semprius' innovative high efficiency HCPV modules with a highly optimized, automated solar tracking system developed by Siemens. The TEP project is part of a joint development agreement signed by Semprius and Siemens in January 2010 that will result in the deployment of numerous new HCPV systems at test sites around the world.
